Alliance Newsletter, June 2009
November 8, 2009 is
Orphan Sunday. Across the nation and beyond, organizations, churches and individuals will harness the day to highlight the needs of orphans and what we can do in response. Orphan Sunday represents a tremendous opportunity to ignite hearts in your community to join you in service. While each event will be locally led, nationwide they add up to a powerful, united voice. Together, we affirm that God’s people will be known for reflecting His deep love for the fatherless.
In October, Alliance media partners—including Shaohannah’s Hope, Focus on the Family, and Hope for Life—will join in the annual CRY of the Orphan campaign to build national energy for Orphan Sunday. National radio broadcasts, web communications and other efforts will urge individuals to become involved. As responders seek where they can link in, the answer will be with you!
In addition, the Christian Alliance for Orphans will provide basic materials and resources to support you—from sample bulletin inserts to posters and other materials you can use to promote your events. These will be available on the Alliance website in August.
Start planning now for how you will make the most of Orphan Sunday. We encourage you to meet soon with a few others who share your passion for orphans to begin laying plans. How to engage is up to you: from a fundraiser concert to a prayer gathering, sermon or Sunday School class. Once you have an activity planned (even a very simple one!) please
email us. We’ll be posting a list of activities being planned nationwide, as well as good ideas to replicate, on the Alliance site.
