Summit V: Engaged and Equipped to Serve the Orphan
Alliance Newsletter: May 2009
More than 750 individuals representing orphan-serving organizations and churches from across the country and beyond gathered for Summit V in Dallas, TX on April 30 - May 1. The annual Summit galvanizes and equips churches, organizations and lay leaders for effective and God-honoring service to the orphan. Adoption, orphan care and foster youth efforts all shared central focus.
Dennis Rainey, Dr. Tony Evans and other national leaders delivered keynote remarks. They were matched in passion by former orphans and foster youth, as well as local servant leaders from around the globe. More than 50 training sessions covered topics ranging from the mechanics of starting a church-based orphan ministry or an adoption support fund, to building regional networks and international church-to-church partnerships. What began five years ago with a gathering of just 30 has become a national hub for Christians at work on behalf of orphans.
